It’s a rush of basslines, missed trains, and dreams way too big for any Google Calendar to cope with. This convo zips through how a love for UK Garage didn’t just soundtrack a life—it engineered a builder’s mindset and a career that keeps sprinting long after the lights come up.

We rewind to Syndicate’s early antics—fresh out of school and already running a mixed-CD empire—then fast-forward to the present: sold-out nights, a comedy show and the juggling act between local stages and national radio slots.

SPEAKER_00:

Hi subscribers, welcome to the extra slice. Slice, slice, slice. Slice, slice, slice, slice. So Nick.

SPEAKER_01:

I can't comment on this one.

SPEAKER_00:

You definitely can. You just can't say anything bad. Unless he doesn't subscribe, then he'll never know exactly what we're talking about.

SPEAKER_01:

What did you think?

SPEAKER_00:

Maybe we'll get what we'll get is we'll get like the people from the office to come in. And maybe they can do the one of saying what you actually say about him when he's um yeah, not in the room.

SPEAKER_01:

So what did you think? Because there's a lot he was talking about that I know you didn't know.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay, so so for me personally, that was amazing. It it's it was amazing, not just because I know him, or not just because he's your husband.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

But growing up, Garage was a big part of my life. Yeah. So when he's talking about oxide and neutrino, it's like my draw my jaws kind of hitting the floor and going, okay, so you've got this, you've got this. But it's really nice to see because you can watch a load of documentaries where you can see like where hip-hop first started and where you know rap first started and things and slinging tapes out the boot of the car and stuff like that. And it literally sounds like Mega had that exact same plan of do you know what this is what we're gonna do?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

And clearly an absolute visionary, but I think that Syndicate then picked that up and ran with it.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, he obviously again, I'm not being biased, but much. He has always been if you tell that if you tell him you can't do something or that's not gonna work, it's happening.

SPEAKER_00:

Did you know that he can't give me a million pounds?

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, he is so true, and I think it's because when you're told or you don't have that no one believes in you at such a young age, you're gonna succeed.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. So um But that but I mean that that was the part, you know, I I can say it now, he's out of the room. But what I said at the end is so true because you know, I've seen a very drunk syndicate.

SPEAKER_01:

We should have brought him on the show.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, we should have brought drunk syndicate, honestly. That would have been that would have been quality. But but yeah, it's kind of see, or when you s like see that, and you know when people can get drunk that you know real things can come out and what have you. But his drive and his determination is honestly, it it's one of those things where I I I've always been a firm believer in you surround yourself with kind of what you want to become. Yeah. And being around Syndica is always a pleasure because it's always upbeat, it's always inspiring, and it's always positive.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. And honestly, even there's still stuff he'll say to me about his upbringing or his childhood or who he's met or where he's been, and I'm like, you've never told me that. But you because I think there's so much he forgets.

SPEAKER_00:

But you could see that. I mean, I I remember he was telling me, like, when he's been to ours at a barbecue, where he had a business where he was doing like mixed CDs. Yeah. Um and he had his own business at like, you know, almost just kind of out of school. Yeah. And you think, yeah, just just skip out the fact you've just had a whole business as well, you know, doing all these bits and pieces. And I think when you see, you know, what he's doing now with the stuff he's doing at A-Listers, the stuff he's doing locally, but yet he's still backwards and forwards to London, he's got his one extra going on. And and now he's there, you know. I mean, yeah, just happened to miss out the fact where he packed out Bloom Lounge. Bloom Lounge when oh yeah, we'll just we'll just go and have a sold-out event there, or oh yeah, I've just got a comedy show coming up, which nearly sold out. You know, oh yeah, and and you just, you know, I I guess it's probably because there's so much going on.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00:

That yeah, to just go, oh, so just talk us through the very easy some highlights of your life.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, that weren't happening.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah. And when and by the way, when he said about, oh yeah, Romeo's the worst to get hold of because he just wanders. Yeah, do you think this is where he's put it from?

SPEAKER_01:

I'm surprised you didn't say anything.

SPEAKER_00:

I I wanted to hold back because I think He's worse. He he hasn't yeah, you know And we know the story.

SPEAKER_01:

Eric's in London and I don't hear from him for days.

SPEAKER_00:

Yeah, three days of okay, you just literally the last time you phoned me, you were about to get onto a train to come home. Yeah. Yeah, I know, but then when I went to Liverpool Street, I'd met so-and-so, and now we're in Ireland. Yeah, just just happen to just happen to um his life is crazy. Yeah, just just clear off. Yeah, for three days. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

So now, yeah, now everyone else has had a snippet of that.

SPEAKER_00:

But anyway, so yeah, I mean I mean that that's the nice thing. I think, you know, even though there is, you know, so much background in music, I think, you know, seeing Syndicate the businessman is brilliant to see. And and I think that, you know, you have all these people, and you know, obviously when we had Jake on, yeah, and it's a yeah, can't do it, can't do it, can't do it, and you go, All right, I'll show him. Yeah. I'm gonna do it. And it's just another inspiring, inspiring person.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah. Good story.

SPEAKER_00:

So yeah, okay. So if Eric was a pizza, oh we're packed the pizzas today. Well, you keep bringing up the slice.

SPEAKER_01:

Yeah, but we eat cake last time. I don't know what order these go out in, so it doesn't matter how much. Okay, if he was a pizza. Yeah. I hope he can't listen to this because he knows what I don't like and what I like.

SPEAKER_00:

Do you better be complimentary?

SPEAKER_01:

I would have ham and pineapple, large. Okay, Hawaiian, extra pineapple, okay, extra ham.

SPEAKER_00:

Okay. Extra, extra, extra. Extra. Extra. Yeah. How many slices?

SPEAKER_01:

With a little love heart on the side.

SPEAKER_00:

You're so you're so biased. And it's like, oh, what's my favourite pizza topping? Hawaiian with extra Hawaiian. You're so full of it. However, all right, let me go along and be biased about this one. Uh yeah, he's uh he's a do you know what? As a guest, and this is a genuine unbiased opinion, he's the edge.

SPEAKER_01:

Oh wow.

SPEAKER_00:

We we we we don't go into any more about that.

SPEAKER_01:

You hate an edge.

SPEAKER_00:

Guess what? Again, only people that know me will know the answer to that one, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01:

But no, great.

SPEAKER_00:

Amazing to have him on, and and probably, yeah, Jem, thanks for being married to him. You're welcome. That's that might be the only way we would have got him, other than our hundredth episode in Vegas.

SPEAKER_01:

Because he might have been out there.

SPEAKER_00:

He might have been out there in Vegas, so we'd have probably got him for that one. Anyway, cool.

SPEAKER_01:

So yeah, we'll thank you to all our subscribers.

SPEAKER_00:

Yes, thank you very much.

SPEAKER_01:

You lovely thousands of people.

SPEAKER_00:
